Following the theme of tattoo influences, Marlies Dekkers has added tiny silver studs to the strips of elastic binding that decorate the necklines.
A key detail is a tiny silver charm in the shape of a cross attached by a safety pin that sits seductively between the breasts of an underwired bra, hangs against the skin from the cut-away waistband of a thong brief or is pinned cheekily onto the side of a bra cup.
Marker pen brights of techno blue make a strong statement for marlies|dekkers latest Girls collection entitled "Naïve Tattoo".
For this collection Marlies Dekkers has been inspired by the work of tattoo artist Yann Travaille, who designs childlike tattoos based on drawings created by his young daughter - who paints them directly onto his skin! These semi-abstract patterns of lines also remind Marlies Dekkers of the work of Spanish painter Joan Miró, whose doodle-style paintings have the same naïve charm.
Marlies Dekkers has translated these child-like simple drawings into an allover print that looks like a crazy traffic map of squiggles, dotted lines, dashes and arrows. The print has been designed into a techno blue with raven black.
Naïve Tattoo is a mix and match print and plain-dye story: techno blue story trimmed with black.
